Every cloud has a silver lining, but what if the silver lining is actually grey?
Several Israeli financial experts discussed the potential outcome of the corona virus pandemic for Israel21c.
One noted that a recession has its benefits in that it facilitates the restructuring of the economy. People who lose their jobs will have a hard time finding new ones in the same line of work and will have to re-educate as businesses will have to modify how they operate.
The epidemic will force “right-sizing” and adopting new technologies (like Zoom).
Investors with cash will see many opportunities in companies hurt by the economy.
Forbes’ takeaway from Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting was: Warren Buffet can’t predict the future so he’s sitting on the sidelines now; large cap companies are still overvalued; and since Berkshire Hathaway’s intrinsic value has shrunk, so has the whole market.
So, we’re still in a wait and see moment…
