Shooting In The Age Of The Virus

The most pressing question in the age of the corona virus is how we get back to “normal.”

For the BBC, which ceased production in mid-March, the fear is running out of new shows. That would put the network in the same position as ESPN, showing programs from the last century.

So, the idea has been floated of quarantining the cast and crew together.

Of course, this risks getting everyone on the set sick, and if the leads become ill, the production will have to stop.

Other ideas are shooting with reduced crews and social distancing – keeping the actors 6 feet away from each other and “cheating” the camera angles.

The creative community is realizing that while it was unique in April, trying to read the titles on everyone’s bookshelf in the Zoom meeting is now getting boring.

So, great minds need to figure this out fast.
