Gambling On Football

What was worth ~107 Bitcoins this time last year and 17 Bitcoins today?

Why, it’s the same 920,000 United States Dollars.

That’s the gamble or the smart move that NFL Kansas City Chiefs tight end Sean Culkin has made. This year, the former finance major from the University of Missouri, has decided to take his annual salary in the cryptocurrency.

Mr. Culkin believes in the value of the digital asset and noted to Sports Illustrated that “it makes the most sense to be paid in sound money that I believe protects its purchasing power over time”.

Just to be clear, the NFL isn’t paying in Bitcoin, it’s still using greenbacks, but those dollars will be sent to a cryptocurrency exchange to be converted into Bitcoin.

A few other players are dabbling in this area as well.
