After Notre Dame, Crowdfunders Remember Burned LA Churches

With nearly $1 Billion crowdfunded to rebuild the fire gutted Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, three black churches in Louisiana are still praying for some love.


The 24 hour news cycle moves fast and prior hurts are soon forgotten.

After a Tweet by Megan Romer and a challenge Tweet by Ali Yasher imploring their followers to help out the churches in Landry Parish, charity crowdfunding site GoFundMe noted an upsurge of support.

Donations increased from $300,000 to about $1.5 million overnight. The money will be divided equally among the congregations to help them rebuild. W

hile some in the Twittersphere continued to engage in racial politics, others made their support known.
