Political Carrot & Stick Crowdfunding in Maine

Crowdfunding is being used as a political tool in Maine to cause its Senator Susan Collins to do the right thing.

Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) speaks to the media as she leaves a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing evaluating Russian interference in U.S. elections

A group consisting of  Maine People’s Alliance, Mainers for Accountable Leadership, and the “Be a Hero” activist Ady Barkan have coalesced to raise money for Collins’ Democratic challenger in the 2020 election (a person to be determined).

However, the deal is if Senator Collins votes AGAINST Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court justice, all of the $1.1 million raised will be returned to donors.

A carrot and stick approach apparently.
