Robot Crowdfunds Its Brain

Creepiest crowdfunding campaign yet (and possibly a problematic one) is the initial coin offering to fund the artificial intelligence of a humanoid robot, Sophia.

The fiat currency is being raised to fund ” SingularityNET, an open source platform for AI and machine learning…(whose purpose is) to create a global, decentralized marketplace for AI.”

The idea is to make the AI available as open source for anyone to use and not permit corporations to hoard the code. You can watch Sophie make a pitch for her brain here:
