Crowdfunding Bail For Indigent Defendants

Criminal justice reform has recently focused on the fairness of bail.

Now, two crowdfunding apps are financing bail for those who can’t afford it.

“Appolition, is funded by credit cards when users round up purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the extra money.”

And ” Bail Bloc, mines a cryptocurrency called Monero from spare computer power, then converts it into cash which is then donated to the Bronx Freedom Fund.”

You can donate directly to Appolition but must run the Bail Bloc app on your computer in the background to mine the Monero.
