Women Crowdfunding To Defend Against Harasser

There is a certain danger in the #metoo campaign of women accusing men of sexual assault and/or harassment.

Solidarity Not Silence is a group of women in the UK who have accused a famous musician of just that.

They are now crowdfunding their defense against his libel and defamation lawsuits that could bankrupt them due to legal fees, court costs and potential adverse judgments. Legal aid is not available for defamation cases.

The women have refused the musician’s demands for “compensation, legal costs, removal of our statements, apologies, and agreement not to repeat these allegations, or similar ones, even when they concerned our own experiences.”
