Kids Crowdfund To Sue European Countries On Climate Change

Look out for the kids! This summer forest fires in the Leiria region of central Portugal killed more than 60 people and left hundreds injured.

Now, some children there are crowdfunding £35,000 to pay British barristers to sue 47 European countries in the European Court of Human Rights, claiming that their failure to handle climate change threatens their right to life. “These 47 were collectively responsible for roughly 15% of global emissions and held a significant proportion of the world’s known fossil fuel reserves…”

The crowdfunding campaign is being held on the web platform CrowdJustice, which has raised millions to help bring citizen-led cases to court.
