Crowdfunding Sustaining Pipeline Protest

Crowdfunding is helping to perpetuate the biggest protest no one is following, the fight over the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline in North Dakota.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has now raised over $1 million to pay for food, shelter, waste management and bail for the protesters who number about 670 +/-. More than 400 protesters have been arrested, including high profile actors like Shailene Woodley.

The $3.8 billion US pipeline is considered “safe” and is planned to run from North Dakota through South Dakota and Iowa to a shipping point in Illinois.

Some have now raised questions about the number of campaigns and the use of funds.
