Man Faces Prison For Sharing A Crowdfunding Link

A UK- Australian citizen was arrested in Dubai for sharing a crowdfunding link on his Facebook page.

It is reported that Scott Richard is being held without bail for posting a “link to a crowdfunding effort to bring clothes, blankets and other supplies to children at a refugee camp outside of Kabul.”

New laws in Arab countries require that charities register with the government and donations get government approval. Richard, if convicted, faces a year in prison and a fine of ~$18,000.
The road to prison is paved with good intentions…
