In a recent round table, scientists discussed why robot crowdfunding campaigns fail. Some reasons were:
- unpredictability with components and timeframes;
- new unpredicted constraints that occur after funding;
- lack of substantial planning before funding; and
- failure to plan for over subscriptions (too successful).
All of which adds up to over promising, which, when the promises don’t meet up with performance looks to your donors like fraud.
Maybe crowdfunders should include some risk factors in their pitch.
