Contract Winery Crowdfunds To Market Indie Wines

Naked Wine Company is a Napa, California contract winery that has used crowdfunding to help indie winemakers produce, market and distribute their wines.

It has over 75,000 “members” that pay $40/month (annual revenue ~$43M) to sample different wines from different makers.Average bottle costs $17 to members.

NWC also issued Wine Bonds that paid 7% cash or 10% in wine credits, raising $6.5 million.

NWC fronts the maker the funds to buy the grapes and use its facilities and takes its profit at the back end when the wine is sold to its members and others.
