Even Nerds Can Get on Netflix

The strange comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000 (known to fans as MST3K), a tv series that takes old, “schlocky” B movies and adds a new, funny voicetrack, racked up $5,764,229 on Kickstarter from 48,270 backers in order to create 14 new episodes.

Then lightning struck as Netflix bought the series for binge watching from the new owner ShoutFactory.

Reading between the lines, fans get their show, while the producers make a nice profit as their cost of goods is close to zero.

The show’s motto is “Don’t be an a–hole.” Good advice
