Newest Crowdfunding Trend: Funerals

Newest trend in”charity” crowdfunding is for funerals.

With a median cost of $7,180, funerals are getting more expensive every year and life insurance sales, which typically fund burial costs, have been declining.

Thus, more people turning to friends, families and, especially, strangers to help give their loved ones a final resting place.

“GoFundMe has raised $340 million for 113,000 funeral and burial funds since its inception in 2010, an average of $3,000 per campaign.”
