Fashion Brands Crowdfund For Cash and Ideas

Will hiking-sneaker-boots be as successful as dress-pant-yoga-pants?

The Wall Street Journal is noting that apparel brands are trying to get closer to their customers by having them help design fashion and then pre-buy it online via crowdfunding. By the way, the dress-yoga-pants have sold $14 million pairs.

Crowdfunding/sourcing is now just another marketing arrow along with interviews, focus groups and polls to find out what customers think and want.

J. Peterman, of Seinfeld fame, has emerged from bankruptcy and is trying to raise $0.5 Million on Kickstarter thinking that’s where the younger crowd hangs out.

Seems like they want both money and ideas.
