Russian Scientists Crowdfunding on Kickstarter

Crowdfunding is a global phenomena.

Russian scientists, who have crowdfunded over $35,000 on Boomstarter in Moscow, are now on Kickstarter trying to raise another $45,000.

Once raised, they will create a new type of satellite that will be able to deploy an aerodynamic braking device that will cause the satellite to burn up upon re-entry, eliminating it from the increasing body of space junk floating around in near-earth orbit.

Donor rewards include a $7 app to monitor the satellite’s position, a $12 flash drive and for $2,700 attendance at the launch in Kazakhstan this summer.
