Kickstarter vs. Indiegogo: Some Stats

The Wall Street Journal compared the leading crowdfunding sites Kickstarter and Indiegogo and found:

  • that Kickstarter has raised over $2.5 Billion since 2009 and Indiegogo has raised $850 million since 2008.
  • While the crowdfunding events on both sites are similar (i.e., film, technology and design projects), 18% of the campaigns on Indiegogo are for personal or non-profit causes, which don’t register on Kickstarter.
  • 30% of all technology projects on Kickstarter failed to deliver the promised rewards or the rewards were delayed.
