Kickstarter Passes $100 Million in Pledges for Documentary Films

Crowdfunding documentary films is now almost the norm for Kickstarter which has passed the $100 Million in pledges threshold recently.

Although most filmmakers use the rewards-based funding for only a part of their financing, it seems that there are other benefits to be gained by campaigning on that portal, including:

  • heavy exposure,
  • audience building, or
  • finding a distributor.

Not every film project is successful, but many have created a spark that has caught fire.
