Kickstarter Grosses ~$25 Million in 2014

Kickstarter has posted its stats for 2014, including 3.3 million donors pledging $0.5 Billion ($1,000/minute) funding 22,252 projects, with big names (Neil Young, Levar Burton), and they are even touting their matchmaking ability (a funder married a donor).

Be ready for hoverboards and big art installations and awards.

August was the most funded month, film and music the most funded projects.

If you assume that Kickstarter took 5% of every funded project, my math says it’s gross revenue for 2014 was about $25 million. Why go public?
