Launch UMD Provides Students With Crowdfunding Portal

The University of Maryland has created its own crowdfunding site to fund student endeavors.

Called “Launch MD” the portal offers donors a chance to contribute to such projects as new uniforms for the Terp Dance Team to more cerebral endeavors such as helping design assistive technology for blind students.

The project with UMD students involved with Public Health Without Borders was 205% funded and will send students to Sierra Leone in June to teach residents about clean water, hygiene and basic health as they accompany the Maryland Sustainability Engineering Organization who will build a UV water sanitation tank and a secondary school.
