Underpaid Underfunded Teachers Crowdfund for School Supplies

Most readers don’t realize that, in addition to large class sizes, funding issues result in the lack of school supplies, so many teachers go out of pocket each year buying things like paper, copies and even chalk.

While the PTA helps out, some teachers are turning to crowdfunding for these classroom necessities.

CNBC reports that “Giving this movement a huge boost, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation last week donated $1.5 million to crowdfunding organization DonorsChoose.org to help provide students with needed supplies this back-to-school season.”
