Crowdfunding Cops Coming

When internet advertising for private placements goes into effect, Massachusetts will be ready with its new crowdfunding cops. The State’s Internet Crowdfunding and Offerings Watch Department, or I-Crowd, a part of the MA Commonwealth Secretary’s office will track how issuers of securities use general solicitation to market offerings, and monitor equity crowdfunding portals raising money in Massachusetts. Even under the Crowd Fund Act, the States still have the ability to enforce against fraudulent behavior.
