Cut Out the Middleman

Even though equity crowdfunding is still not viable, film makers are starting to find ways to cut out the funding portals by crowdfunding on their own websites. The current fees for projects funded on Kickstarter is 5%. Indiegogo’s fees start at 4% and increase to 9% if the target raise is not reached. After failing to reach its initial goals on Indiegogo, “Posthuman” is apparently now soliciting on its own website, in part to be able to keep all of the proceeds rather than pay the portals.
